§ 22-161.2. Licensing procedure.

  • The procedure for obtaining any class of license shall be as follows:

    (1)

    Application for any electrician license shall be received by the electrical inspector on forms which may be obtained from him. The application shall include the name, address and place of business of the applicant.

    (2)

    All applicants for electrician license shall be at least 21 years of age and shall have had at least five years practical experience or shall have satisfactorily completed a course of study in the subject for which the license is sought, given by a recognized school, and have had at least one year of practical experience in addition thereto.

    (3)

    Each applicant for a license under this division must pass an examination prior to the issuance of such license. A person will be allowed to take the examination no more than two times in any 12-month period.

    (4)

    Each test applicant shall pay to the City of Ottawa the non-refundable sum of $50.00.

    (5)

    The annual fee for electrical contractor registration is $100.00 payable upon meeting the terms of this section. All registrations shall expire on the 31st day of December of each year.
