§ 22-123. Fees.

  • (a)

    Residential.

    (1)

    No permit, required by the building code adopted in sections 22-121, 22-173 or 22-204 shall be issued until the fees prescribed in this section shall have been paid. In the event a building permit is not necessary and an electrical or plumbing permit is required, then the provisions of sections 22-173 and 22-204 shall apply.

    (2)

    For a permit for the construction or alteration of a building or structure, the fee shall be at the rate of $0.42 per square foot. This fee includes the cost of the plumbing, electrical and HVAC permits.

    (3)

    For a permit for the removal of a building or structure from one lot to another, the fee shall be at the rate of $1.00 per $1,000.00 of the estimated value of the building or structure in its completed condition after removal.

    (4)

    For a permit for the removal of a building or structure to a new location within the same lot, the fee shall be at the rate of $0.25 per $1,000.00 of the estimated cost of moving, of new foundations and of work necessary to put the building or structure in a usable condition in its new location.

    (5)

    For a permit for the demolition of a garage and/or other accessory structures less than 900 square feet not served by municipal water and sanitary service the fee shall be $25.00. For a permit for the demolition of any structure greater than 900 square feet in area or any structure served by municipal water and/or sanitary service the fee shall be $250.00.

    In case of abandonment or discontinuance, the cost of work performed under a permit may be estimated, an adjustment of the fee made and the portion of the fee for uncompleted work returned to the permit holder provided that no refund of a prescribed minimum fee shall be made. If such discontinuance is due to revocation of a permit, a similar adjustment and return may be made; provided, that no refund shall be made until all penalties incurred or imposed by due authority have been collected. After such a refund has been made, no work shall be resumed until a new application has been made and a new permit has been issued.

    (b)

    Commercial.

    (1)

    No permit, required by the building code adopted in sections 22-121, 22-173 or 22-204 shall be issued until the fees prescribed in this section shall have been paid. In the event a building permit is not necessary and an electrical or plumbing permit is required, then the provisions of sections 22-173 and 22-204 shall apply.

    (2)

    For a permit for the construction or alteration of a building or structure, the fee shall be as follows:

    1 sq. ft. to 2,500 sq. ft. $0.42 per sq. ft.
    2,501 sq. ft. to 5,000 sq. ft. $425.00 + $0.25 per sq. ft.
    5,001 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft. $925.00 + $0.15 per sq. ft.
    Above 10,000 sq. ft. $1,925.00 + $0.05 per sq. ft.

     

    The minimum permit fee for residential or commercial will be $50.00. Permit fees for any tower will be $25.00 per lineal foot. Equipment modifications to towers are $1,000.00 each.

    The building official shall determine the square footage from the approved architectural drawings submitted. All dimensions shall be taken from the exterior measurement of the building.
